Project GirlSpire is an online platform by girls, for girls. Through interviews, articles, and personal narratives, Project GirlSpire connects girls around the world who have overcome various types of adversity, including poverty, hunger, and rape. Our mission is to encourage a female-led social change movement through awareness and empowerment.
GirlSpire is the granddaughter of Resources and Outreach for Liberia (ROL). Simply put, ROL is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization, who’s goal is to bring first-world education and healthcare to post-war, and now, post-Ebola Liberia. Project R.E.A.D. (Restoring Education After Disaster) is ROL’s current education campaign, with a goal of giving at-risk Liberian girls a safe place, tutoring, and the audacity to dream. Girlspire is Project R.E.A.D.’s first global social change initiative, providing a platform for women to inspire girls through literature and art.
